Google Fires Leftist Activist

Google has fired one of its engineers over the Israel Hamas War. During a downhill with the Israeli division, a Google employee interrupted and claimed that the work for Israel was supporting genocide.

In response, Google terminated the employee for violating policies, which had resulted in embarrassment. Big Tech firms have been notoriously lax with their employees launching political attacks on conservatives, as long as it did not clash directly with leadership. Business Insider says:

“I’m a Google software engineer, and I refuse to build technology that powers genocide, apartheid, or surveillance,” the worker shouted, according to videos of the event.

“Earlier this week, an employee disrupted a coworker who was giving a presentation — interfering with an official company-sponsored event,” the company said in a statement to The Verge. “This behavior is not OK, regardless of the issue, and the employee was terminated for violating our policies.”

Google already has a run into issues working for governments that its Leftist employees did not want to work for. In 2018, it refused to join a contract that could be used to build weapons for the US Military, while still doing work for the Chinese Communist Party. Times of Israel says:

Israel’s $1.2 billion “Nimbus” is a project with Google and Amazon’s AWS to build and provide cloud-based regional data centers and services to the nation. Anti-Israel employees of Google have criticized “Nimbus,” saying that it will assist the country in surveillance and unlawful data collection of Palestinians.

During a previous round of fighting between Israel and Gaza-based terror groups in May 2021, Google employees asked management to review the company’s contracts with and corporate donations to “institutions that support Israeli violations of Palestinian rights,” citing the Israel Defense Forces as an example of such an institution.

This new level of anti-Israel commitment by the Left is showing the fractures in Western politics. If Israel cannot bring a lasting settlement to Gaza, it will likely face more problems of this nature from Europe and America.
