TikTok, the popular social media app controlled by the Chinese company ByteDance, has made its way to the American Judiciary, the New York Post reports.
Gary Wilcox, a New Jersey judge, has been exposed for having a TikTok account where he lip-synced lewd lyrics from artists such as Rihanna, Busta Rhymes, and Ginuwine. In some of the videos, Wilcox was semi-nude or wearing controversial t-shirts.
Fox News reports that Wilcox was slapped with a formal complaint.
The complaint also claims that the judge “exhibited poor judgment and demonstrated disrespect for the Judiciary and an inability to conform to the high standards of conduct expected of judges.”
Wilcox will have 20 days to answer the complaint according to northjersey.com.
Judge Wilcox was appointed by then-Governor Chris Christie in 2011 as a family court judge, before being moved to criminal court in 2016. Whether this scandal will have an effect on Christie’s Presidential Campaign remains to be seen.
