President Trump is reportedly considering returning to Twitter, Forbes reports. His exclusivity contract with Truth Social is over, and the heated primary is giving him a reason to return.
Trump’s last tweet is dated January 8th, 2021, posted two days following the January 6 Protest. His account was subsequently banned by Twitter’s leadership, who accused him of instigating violence.
To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.

Since then, Trump created his own social media network, Truth Social, with which he had an exclusivity contract for 18 months. Elon Musk, the new Twitter owner, reinstated the former President’s account back in November with an open invitation to return.
Trump’s Truth Social numbers are low compared to his occasional Instagram posts, and paltry compared to his former Twitter engagement. Even dormant, his Twitter account remains the ninth most followed on the platform. He outpaces Biden’s own follower count, even when combining personal and @POTUS accounts.
Trump continues to dominant his opponents in the primary according to polls. His Twitter account also outpaces all of his opponents’ accounts combined by a factor of 4. While financially, Trump benefits more from posting on Truth Social, he might have to return to Twitter if he hopes to win the election.
