Meta Innovates in Advertising

Meta is combining its AI innovation with advertising. Advertisers will now be able to rely on Facebook for help in managing their advertising campaigns.

The exact specifics on what the AI will do is still up in the air. It is expected to provide analytics and offer better targeting solutions. It could even help with graphics.

Meta showed off snazzy new AI features for users of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp at its developers conference last week. On Wednesday, it unveiled a different collection of generative AI tools for an equally valuable group of users: advertisers.

The new tools harness the power of AIimage and text generation to make it easier than ever for people to create ads for Meta’s various platforms, potentially providing a new tailwind to boost to the company’s $117 billion advertising business.

The AI race is still ongoing between major tech firms. Chat GPT is still leading the pack based on being the first, but Big Tech is quickly catching up. The New York Times continues:

Meta is aiming to keep pace with OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and other companies in the frenzied race over A.I. that can instantly generate text, images and other media on its own. Since November, when OpenAI unexpectedly launched the chatbot ChatGPT, Silicon Valley executives have embraced the technology as the next big shift in computing — and struggled not to be left behind.

For Meta, widespread acceptance of its new A.I. products could significantly increase engagement across its many apps, most of which rely on advertising to make money. More time spent in Meta’s apps means more ads shown to its users.

Meta heavily relies on advertising for its revenue, as does Google. Data and targeting is evermore important, and AI will continue to work in the background.
