Apple is one of the most admired companies in the world. Its hardware is very popular, and the cult around its founding is even more so among some.
An auction selling personal items of Apple’s founders Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs has fetched very high prices. Included in the sale are prototype computers and letters. AOL has the story:
One of the first personal computers built by Apple and signed by company co-founder Steve Wozniak has sold at auction for more than $223,000.
The Apple-1 has been restored to a fully operational state and came with a custom case with a built-in keyboard, according to Boston-based RR Auction, which held the sale that closed Thursday.
1980s Apple memorabilia has been fetching high prices for a few years. Unopened original iPhones from 2007 are also starting to hit the auction market. PC Mag continues:
A handwritten note from Steve Jobs has fetched $175,759 at auction.
Final bids came in yesterday for the note—a yellow piece of paper on which the Apple co-founder wrote a rough draft of an ad for the 1976 Apple-1 computer. It’s not dated, but the note lists the various specs for a still-developing Apple-1, which ended up using the MOS Technology 6052 microprocessor.
Apple is otherwise on the cusp of releasing its new iPhone 15 along with iOS17. Among the major changes are a USB-C port and the introduction of third-party passkey support.
