Is This The End of Amazon?

The Federal Trade Commission is finalizing its lawsuits against Amazon, Politico reports.

The FTC is taking a multi pronged approach tin its attack against Amazon. Its central case focuses on Amazon Prime and its subscription model bundling enough services such as video, shipping, and music to tie customers to Amazon. It has also mentioned that the free trial period is deceptive.

Amazon’s advertisement program is also on the line, since it disproportionately prioritizes those who pay to have their products front and center. The company is also accused of forcing merchants to use its costly fulfillment service if they hope to remain competitive.

Amazon is the main target of the FEC, though other tech giants are also in the government’s sights. The investigation started under the Trump administration, though its focus was on other firms. Apple, Visa, Ticketmaster, and Google all have investigations or actions against them.

Microsoft recently escaped the blocking of its acquisition of Activision, which makes the FTC all the more committed to its big play against Amazon.
