DC Government Falls for Bogus Green Energy

The DC government has purchased questionable Electric Vehicle technology, WUSA9 reports.

The company, Mullen Automotive, claims that its module can increase the range of electric vehicles by over 60%. The DC government purchased Chevy Bolts, where prices start at $27,000, for its parking enforcement fleet.

Lawrence Hardge, the man behind Mullen, has a troublesome past. He was convicted in 2001 of selling unregistered securities and fraud in Mississipi, racking up a 26 year sentence. The DC government announced that it was not aware of his past conviction and is investigating.

Electric engineers at the University of Maryland discounted that claim, stating:

“There’s not technologies that I’m aware of that can really boost that same battery pack to significantly more than 200 mile range,” said Paul Albertus, associate director of the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute. “There’s a variety of limitations just from basic chemical theory. There’s only so much energy you can store for the materials that you put into a battery.”

Unsustainable Green Energy technology has suffered from government corruption. The Solyndra Scandal ended up costing the government billions of dollars. Energy Secretary Granholm is currently under scrutiny for energy vehicle stocks.
